Obituary of Grace H. Mitchell

Springwater – Grace Mitchell, 78 years of age, passed away Sunday evening April 30, 2017 at the Wyoming County Community Health System in Warsaw.

Grace was born October 15, 1938 in Groveland the daughter of Samuel and Ester (Taylor) Bennett.  Grace grew up in Groveland and also resided in Leicester for a period of time.  However for most of her life she resided in the Springwater area.  Grace and Leo Mitchell were married June 9th, 1961.  Together they celebrated over 36 years of marriage prior to Leo passing away in 1997.  Grace enjoyed her employment as a seamstress at Champion Products for many many years, retiring from the Perry plant.  Grace enjoyed sewing, collecting tea cups and anything that had to do with cooking (especially canning) and baking. She loved flowers with yellow roses being her favorite.  Of importance to Grace as well was her recent baptism in the Celebrate Family Church. 

Grace was pre-deceased by her parents, Samuel and Ester Bennett; her husband, Leo Mitchell, her grandson, James Mitchell, her siblings, John and Betty; and her son-in-law, Robert Ward.  She is survived by her daughter, Catherine Ward of Wayland, her son, Joseph (Michaele) Mitchell of Wayland; her grandchildren, Robert (Sierra) Ward of Arkport, Adam Mitchell of Wayland and Sam (Courtney) Mitchell of Livonia; her great-granddaughters, Ainslee and Elise; along with nieces and nephews. 

Grace’s family and friends may call Friday from 4-7pm at the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland.  Her funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 10am at the funeral home.  Committal and interment will take place immediately following at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.  Contributions in memory of Grace Mitchell may be made to Celebrate Family Church, PO Box 283, Mt. Morris, NY 14510.
