Obituary of Adam E. Bortle

Wayland – Adam E. Bortle, 41 years of age, passed away at his home in Wayland Thursday March 6, 2025. Adam was born September 25, 1983 in Dansville the son Eugene “Geno” and Nancy (Wentworth) Bortle. Adam grew up in the South Dansville and Dansville areas and then moved to Wayland where he resided the remaining years of his life. Adam and Michelle Wheeler married on February 29, 2020 at the Lighthouse Wesleyan Church in Wayland and have celebrated over 5 years together. Adam was an avid Buffalo Bills fan attending many games throughout the years! He loved the New York Yankees as well. He enjoyed cooking, working out at the gym daily and pretending he was still young; along with collecting his Air Jordan’s and many many other shoes. Mostly though, Adam enjoyed spending time with his sons at home. Adam was pre-deceased by his father, Eugene Bortle; his twin brother, Kelly Bortle; his mother in law, Veronica Wheeler; his grandmother, Leatha Wentworth; and his grandparents, William “Shorty” and Marion Bortle. Adam is survived by his wife, Michelle Bortle of Wayland; his sons Nico and Elijah; his mother Nancy Bortle of Wayland; his brother, Brad (Megan) Wentworth of SC; his father in law, Mike Wheeler of Lakeville along with many extended family members. Adam’s family and friends may call Monday March 17, 2025 from 11am – 1pm at St. George-Forsythe Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. Adam’s funeral service will be Monday at 2pm at the Lighthouse Wesleyan Church, 101 South Lackawanna St., Wayland. Interment and committal prayers will immediately follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Wayland. .Family and friends are invited to wear Bills Mafia attire for both calling hours and funeral service.
