Obituary of Michael R. Wagner

Dansville – Michael R. Wagner, 69 years of age, passed away early Tuesday morning March 18, 2025 at his home. Mike was born June 14, 1955 in Dansville the son of Raymond and Gail (Prame) Wagner. He grew up in the Webster’s Crossing, Springwater and Conesus areas and resided there until 1989 when he moved to Dansville. Most of Mike’s working career was at Lightnin Mixers in Avon and eventually Rochester. After 30 years there he retired. Mike and Joan Smith were married July 4, 1990 at “Joan’s Pond!” Together they have celebrated over 34 years of marriage. Mike’s hobbies were endless. He was a very talented and skilled metal worker. He could make just about anything out of metal. Many will recognize his talent as you drive by his house, especially the “Tin Man.” Whether it was life size sculptures, the ribbon for the cancer center, a clock, a drawing or painting Mike could craft it all. He also enjoyed small engine repair, telling his witty jokes and of course Mike was a “gardening enthusiast.” Mike enjoyed music and was a DJ for many years at local parties, weddings and get-togethers. He was an avid drummer as well. The Rocky Ridge Ramblers and Marge Burrows and a Little Bit of Country were two of his bands. Mike is survived by his wife of over 34 years, Joan Wagner of Dansville; his children, Janet (Justin) Caballero of Rochester, Raymond (Heather) Wagner of Dansville, Michelle (Brian) Nadeau of Springwater and Christian (Samantha) Wagner of IN; his stepchildren, Karen Schreiner of Wayland and Brian (Shirlene) Schreiner of Conesus; his grandchildren, Shawn and Leah Wagner, Cameron Wagner, Erika and Riley Nadeau, Aaliyah, Breawna, Isabella and Mackenzie Wagner and Emersyn Schreiner; his parents, Raymond and Gail Wagner; his siblings, Robin (Mike) Carrier of OK, Anne Wagner (Jim Swain) of Swain, Vicky (Bill) Fields of Wayland and Lisa (Tom) VanScooter of Conesus; along with many nieces and nephews. Mike’s family and friends may call Saturday March 22, 2025 from 2-4pm at St. George-Forsythe Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. Following calling hours all are welcome to Palmers on Main Street, Wayland for a memorial reception. A celebration of Mike’s life will take place at his home on Saturday June 14, 2005 at 2pm.
