Obituary of Rodney Stanley Belanger

Perkinsville - Cohoes, NY Rodney Stanley Belanger, 82 years of age, passed away peacefully early Monday morning, April 28, 2025 at Eddy Village Green at Cohoes. Rodney was born February 21, 1943 in Wayland, NY the firstborn son of Henry and Rolande Belanger. He grew up in Perkinsville, graduated from Wayland Central School in 1961 and soon began a 29 year career at Kodak as a technologist. Rodney entered the Army during the Vietnam War, serving two years in Germany. Following the war, he met his soulmate Dinah Sanford and they married on April 8, 1972 in Dansville. Together they celebrated over 53 years of marriage. Rodney was a wonderful father and husband, and also cared for his parents, siblings, and grandchildren. He enjoyed the challenge of building his own first home, gardening, and landscaping. He was an avid hunter and Corvette enthusiast. Rodney and Dinah enjoyed their retirement years traveling the country with their RV. Rodney was a faithful communicant of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Perkinsville, NY, teaching Sunday school and growing closer to Christ with fellow believers. Rodney was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Rolande Belanger and his sister Beverly Hart. Rodney is survived by his wife Dinah Belanger, sisters Karen (Patrick) Cardinale, JoAnne Bisson, Jeanine (Jeff) Feld, and his brother Wayne (Anna) Belanger; three daughters, Annette (Robert) Elliott, Pamela (Johnny) Talbot, Nicole (Marc) Reynolds, and his son Sean (Gretchen) Belanger; along with his grandchildren, Sarah (Reese) Rasnick, Daniel Elliott, David (Natasha) Elliott, Avery Belanger, Mia Belanger, and Alexa Belanger; and great-grandchildren. Rodney’s family and friends are invited to his Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, May 5th, 2025, at 10 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 11114 Chapel Street, Perkinsville, NY, 14572. Committal prayers and interment will take place immediately following at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Rodney S. Belanger may be made to the Vincent House, 310 Second Ave., Wayland, NY 14572 or the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
