Obituary of Richard Allen Sabins
Atlanta – Richard Allen Sabins, 61 years of age, passed away Friday May 16, 2025 at his home in Atlanta.
Rich was born February 23, 1964 in Wayland the son of Jay F. and Susie (Towner) Sabins. He grew up in Cohocton and resided there until 2012 when he moved to Atlanta to help take care of his mother in law, Eva Weis. Rich and Melinda Weis were married June 30, 2001 in Cohocton and have celebrated over 23 years together.
Rich was employed at The Gunlocke Company for over 40 years and was still working there when he passed away. His hobbies were many. Rich enjoyed woodworking (making furniture, swings, picnic tables and many other items); fishing; hunting; riding Harley Davidson motorcycles and was a member of the Conesus Lake Riders Club. He loved when family and friends would stop by and visit.
Rich was pre-deceased by his father, Jay F. Sabins; his mother in law, Eva Weis; his brother Mark Sabins; his sister in law, Melody Bill; his brother in law, Jack Burdin; and his “Uncle” Frank “Dutch” Jackson. He is survived by his wife Melinda Sabins of Atlanta; his sons, Jeffrey (Kelli) Sabins of TN, Cory (Samantha) Sabins of Wayland and Logan Sabins of Atlanta; his grandchildren, Carter, Kinley, Abbie, Charlotte, Amelia, Aiden and Madilynn; his mother Susie Sabins of Cohocton; his siblings, John (Bonnie) Sabins of Cohocton, Diane (Douglas) Austin of Verona, Bonnie Burdin of Cohocton, Leon (Lillian) Sabins of Cohocton, Brenda Sabins of Cohocton and Amber Willis of Avoca; along with several nieces and nephews.
Rich’s family and friends may call Thursday May 22, 2025 from 4-7pm at St. George-Forsythe Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. Rich’s funeral service will be Friday May 23rd, 2025 at 10am the funeral home. Committal prayers and interment will take place immediately following at Mapleview Cemetery in Cohocton.
