Obituary of Raynard R. Jacobs

Raynard R. Jacobs, age 84, of Birdsall and Bath, New York, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at Guthrie Hospital in Corning, NY. Born on October 13, 1940, in Dansville, Raynard was the son of Arthur and Ruth (Mattle) Jacobs. He grew up in Dansville and graduated from Dansville Central School. Following high school, Raynard dedicated himself to serving his country in the United States Army. He was a proud member of the 101st Airborne, serving in Vietnam, Germany, and Korea. During his service in Vietnam, he was awarded the Bronze Star for heroic and meritorious achievement. Raynard completed a distinguished 20-year career at Fort Carson, CO After retiring from the military, Raynard worked as a mechanic at F and F Chevy-Olds in Wayland for several years. He also worked alongside his brother Michael in later years. Throughout his life, Raynard lived in various areas, including Birdsall and most recently Bath. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time outdoors. Raynard was also a dedicated volunteer at the Birdsall Fire Department for several years. Raynard was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Ruth Jacobs; his siblings, Geraldine King, Roger Jacobs, and Thomas Jacobs. He is survived by his children: Lora (Michael) Shepherd of Tennessee and Richie (Vickie) Jacobs of Indiana. His grandchildren include Macy Shepherd, Cierra (Michael) Pickering, Joshua Jacobs, and Christopher Jacobs. Raynard was also a great-grandfather to Blaze, Estee, Brooke, Maddy, Kiley, Cooper, and Letty. Additionally, he leaves behind his siblings, Loraine Conrad, Sharon (Jerry) Bricks, and Michael Jacobs (Sherry Hetrick); his sister in law Elaine Jacobs; along with several nieces and nephews. A graveside service with military honors will be held at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Perkinsville on Wednesday September 3, 2025 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Raynard’s memory to the Vincent House, 310 Second Ave., Wayland, NY 14572.
