Wayland – Betty Lou Barber 92 years of age, went to be with the Lord, surrounded by her family on Sunday October 12, 2025.

Betty was born August 10, 1933 in Hornell the daughter of Harrison and Auretta (Baldwin) Russell. She grew up in Patchinville and graduated from Wayland Central School. After residing in Patchinville, Betty resided in Rhode Island for a period of time and in the mid 1950's moved back to the LoonLake and Wayland areas, residing there ever since.

Betty retired from Wayland Central School after 35 plus years as a bus driver and monitor. Her hobbies were many. Betty enjoyed knitting and crocheting (donating her blankets and caps to the church), word search, gardening,spending time with her family and friends and most of all, her scratch offs.

Betty was predeceased by her parents; her brothers, James and Theodore Russell; her sons Gaylan and Alan Barber; her life long companion, Don Rauber; and her cat Jossie. She is survived by her children, Gary Barber of Wayland, Michael (June) Barber of Wayland, Thomas (Patricia) Barber of Wayland and Paula Wheaton of Wayland; her daughter in law, Verna Barber of NC; niece, Theresa (Todd) Rauber; her grandchildren, Jordan (Lisa) Pelton, Ashley Wood (Eric), Michael (Casey) Barber, Tyler Barber, Erin Barber (Cole), Rachel Barber (David), Ryan (Emily) Barber, Alisha Barber (Justin), Ashton Barber, Micky Barber, Christa (David) Inzinna, Melissa (Steve) Waldoch, Kevin Dewey, Meri (Billie) Weidman; Don's family, Donna Werth and Jill Werth (Chris Schubert); 24 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren.

Betty's family extends a special thank you to Greg and Janet White and all her church family; her Food Mart family (Shelly and Molly); her neighbors, the Sick brothers; to Vicki Lambert for all her help; and to all those who sent cards and visited Betty while she was ill.

Betty's family and friends may call Sunday October 19th, 2025 from 12-3pm at St. George-Forsythe Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. Betty's funeral service will be immediately following calling hours at 3pm at the funeral home. Greg White will officiate the service. Interment will be at the convenience of Betty's family at Howard Cemetery.
