Obituary of Shirley Ryan

Cohocton – Shirley J. Ryan, 81 years of age, passed away Saturday October 18, 2025 at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville. Shirley was born April 22, 1944 in Wellsville the daughter of Cecil and Blanche (Bieser) Smith. She grew up in Belmont and move to Kansas in 1976. In 2010 Shirley moved back to Western New York in Cohocton and has remained there ever since. While in Kansas, she worked at Prestige Manufacturing in Neodesha. Shirley had many hobbies as she loved arts and crafts; baking’ collecting blue butterflies; and mostly she was a beloved and devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Shirley was pre-deceased by her parents; a son, Richard Earl Taylor; a great granddaughter, Scarlet Rose; and a great-great grandson, Gunner James. She is survived by her significant other, John Rynders of Cohocton; her children, Kim (Bill) Blood of KS, Kevin Ryan of Olean and Terri (Bill) Hoppe of TN; her grandchildren, Derek, Bridgette, Billy, Tyler, Brystall, Alicia, K.C., Cassandra, Blanche and Terry; her great grandchildren, Destinee, Layne, Kayden, Brinley, Tyler Jr., Taylinn, Dominic, Jayden and TW. Shirley’s family and friends may call Monday October 27, 2025 from 5-7pm at St. George-Forsythe Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. Her funeral service will immediately follow at 2pm at the funeral home. Committal and interment will take place at Clearview Cemetery at the convenience of her family.
