Obituary of Alan S. Rex
Atlanta – Alan S. Rex, 64 years of age, passed away Tuesday November 25, 2025 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
Alan was born May 13, 1961 in Canandaigua. He grew up in the Naples and Ingleside areas and graduated from Naples Central School in 1981. In 1995 Alan moved to Atlanta where he has resided ever since. Alan worked for Miller Nurseries in Canandaigua for over 28 years. Alan’s hobbies were many! He loved the Denver Broncos, dirt track racing, heavy metal music, and hunting. Earlier in life he enjoyed bartending and bowling. Of great importance to Alan though was his commitment to the Hatch Hose Fire Company (life member) in Atlanta and the Cohocton Valley Ambulance Company.
Alan was pre-deceased by his father and step-mother, Alan Rex; his sister, Debra Lynn Orbaker; and his grandparents, Edwin and Mary Rex and Stanley and Beatrice Beamis. He is survived by his loving companion of 30 years, Peggy Sue Kern; his siblings, Jeff and Jenn Rex, Danielle Rex and Clayton and Bonnie Rex; Peggy’s family who treated him like one of their own, including Judy and Gary Clark, Sandy and the late Dick Snyder, the late Dale Kern; along with many nieces and nephews.
Alan’s family and friends are invited to the Hatch Hose Fire Hall in Atlanta Saturday January 3rd, 2026 for visitation from 1-3pm. A memorial service will immediately follow at 3pm at the fire hall. Contributions in memory of Alan S. Rex may be made to the Hatch Hose Fire Company, 30 University Ave., Atlanta, NY 14808.
