Obituary of Terry D. Forsythe

Rochester – Terry D. Forsythe, 79 years of age, passed away Monday January 26, 2026 at his home in Rochester. Terry was born in Dansville the son of Lyle and Margaret (Gessner) Forsythe. He grew up in Perkinsville and graduated from Wayland Central School in 1964. Subsequent to high school, Terry served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He honorably served from January 26, 1965 through October 14, 1968. He resided in the Henrietta / Rochester areas for many many years, then moved to Charlotte, NC for approximately 15 years and then back to Rochester. Terry's employment was mostly within the retail grocery industry. He worked for a while at Food Lion and then began a 28 year career with Wegmans. Terry loved NASCAR! He would travel to many races throughout the east coast including, Charlotte, Richmond and Darlington. There was no comparing a Chevy to anything! He also enjoyed playing pool and growing rose bushes. He had a unique talent with the roses. Terry was pre-deceased by his mother, Margaret Forsythe; his two brothers Larry and Garry Forsythe; and his brother in law, Charles Franchot. He is survived by his step children, Adam Finkelstein, Amy (Nick) Defilippo; his four granddaughters, Tiffany, Bailey, Emily and Samantha; his former wife, Linda Forsythe; his sisters, Sherry Franchot, and Mary (Russ) Brand; along with several nieces and nephews. Terry's family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday February 5, 2026 at 11am at Sacred Heart Church in Perkinsville. Terry will be laid to rest next to his mother Margaret at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Committal prayers and military honors will take place at the cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Terry D.
