Obituary of Chris E. Applin
Wayland – Chris E. Applin, 77 years of age, passed away Sunday February 8th, 2026 at his home. Chris was born October 21, 1948 in Wayland the son of Theodore and Mary (Bolton) Applin. He grew up in and has remained a life resident of Wayland.
Chris honorably served his country during the Vietnam War. He was a combat infantryman serving from May 22, 1968 until his honorable discharge May 21, 1970. It was during this time he battled with his fellow infantrymen on Hill 937 – commonly known as “Hamburger Hill”. Chris enjoyed attending the annual Hamburger Hill reunion and spending time with his fellow veterans.
Chris and June Migliori were married on October 26, 1985 and celebrated over 36 years together prior to June passing away in February of 2022. Chris enjoyed the simple things in life. Riding his Harley Davidson, woodworking, going for rides throughout the village and morning coffee with his friends. His family was his pride and joy, especially the grandchildren!
Chris was pre-deceased by his parents, Theodore and Mary Applin; his wife, June Applin: and a brother in law, Rodger Smith. He is survived by his son and his wife, Brian and Phyllis Applin; his grandchildren, Kirstyn (Dustin) Perry, Katelyn Applin (Gage Butters), and Bryce Applin; June's family that he considered his own, which includes her daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchilren, Roxanne Simeone and Rita Simeone; Angelina (Jeremy) Pifer, Michael Downey and Maria Downey; Dominick, Bradley, Taylor, Austin, Colby, Jack and Nico; his siblings, Theodore “Lee” (Fran) Applin, Ken (Ethel) Applin, Jeanie Smith and Shelley (Dan) Pletcher; his three nieces, Terrie, Mandy and Leanne; along with special people in his life, Ron, Karina, Jeff, Mike and Harriet.
A graveside service will be held at a later date for family and close friends.
