Obituary of Sara "Sally" - "Granny" L. Drum

Cohocton – Sara L. Drum - “Sally – Granny” - 98 years of age, passed away early Sunday morning, March 8, 2026 at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mt.Morris. Sara was born November 30, 1927 in Hornell the daughter of Lloyd and Ethel (Burger) Pfaff. She grew up in South Dansville and was a 1945 graduate of Dansville Central School. She then moved to Rochester for work and it was soon thereafter she met Roland Drum. On November 19, 1948 they wed and she moved to Roland's farm in Cohocton where she resided until her health necessitated her move to the healthcare facility in Mt. Morris. Sara was a dairy farmer's wife and she jumped right in with the work. She worked in the barns, fields and maintained the books for the farm for 50 years. Her spunk and spirit kept you honest and always on your toes. She was always on the run whether on the farm or at the house. Baking and cooking – always making sure you had a meal and of course, coffee and cookies at 10am every morning. “Granny” always had something in the refrigerator whenever her grandchildren stopped by or one of her multitude of adopted “grandchildren!” She also enjoyed reading, gardening, canning and knitting. Grannie also made sure there were knitted sweaters and blankets for all of her grandchildren. Sara was pre-deceased by her parents, Lloyd and Ethel Pfaff; her husband, Roland “Gramps” Drum; and her sister and brother in law, Margaret and Bill Lemen. Sara is survived by her daughter, Barbara Ann Eaton (Robbie Proffitt) of FL and her son Gene (Pat) Drum of Cohocton; her sister Phyllis (Carlo) DiBello of New York City; her grandchildren, Michele Berrios of FL, Todd (Sarah) Lewis of FL, Nicole (Chad) Francis of OR and Heather (Matt) Deusenbery of Wayland; her great-grandchildren, Samantha Chavira, Haley (Kory) Diley, Courtney Lewis (Pete Wallace), Madison (John) Kimmel, Olivia Lewis (Kyle Gross), Owen Francis, Corbin Francis, and Mattie and Ella Deusenbery; her great-great grandchildren, Meredith, Otto, Scottie, Jack and Ben; along with nieces and nephews. Sara's family and friends may call Thursday March 12, 2026 from 4-7 pm at St. George-Forsythe Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. Her funeral service will be Friday March 13, 2026 at 11am at the funeral home. Committal prayers and interment will take place immediately following at Zion Lutheran Church in Cohocton.
