Obituary of Sylvia L. Hodgeman

Wayland – Sylvia L. Hodgeman, 71 years of age, passed away Friday evening, May 22, 2026 at the Vincent House Comfort Care Facility in Wayland. Sylvia was born January 19, 1955 in Rochester the daughter of Jack and May (Van Vleet) Hodgeman. She grew up in Richmond and graduated from Honeoye Central School in 1974. Sylvia moved to Wayland in 2004 and has remained there since. Sylvia enjoyed gardening, yard work, anything outdoors and sewing. Sylvia helped her son with his car and house any chance she could. She was a very kind, lovable and caring person. Sylvia was pre-deceased by her parents, Jack and Mary Hodgeman; and two brothers, Glen and Bruce Hodgeman. She is survived by her loving companion of over 30 years, Daniel Smith of Wayland; her children, Nathaniel (Samantha) Smith of Holley and Tiffany (Nicholas) Rizzo of Brighton; her grandchildren, Autumn and Andrew; her sister, Sheila (Jim) Mitchell of Conesus and her brother, Kenneth (Karen) Hodgeman of Richmond. There will be no funeral services for Sylvia at this time.
