Obituary of Mary K. Cassata

Cohocton – Dansville – Mary K. Cassata, 63 years of age, passed away Friday morning, December 1, 2023 at Strong Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Mary was born June 5, 1960 in Rochester the daughter of Albert L. Jr. and Dolores (Swan) Wurzer. She grew up in Rochester and graduated from Monroe High School. She lived many years in Rochester and then moved to Dansville where she resided for the majority of her life. 3 years ago Mary and her husband Joe Cassata moved to Cohocton. Mary and Joe were high school sweethearts meeting at 16 years old, marrying January 31, 1982 and staying together the entire time – over 47 years. She never went a day without knowing the love of her life was Joe. Mary has worked at Arkport Truck Repair in Arkport for many years. She did many things for the company throughout the years. Her hobbies were many. She loved motorcycles; hunting; camping and just about everything outdoors. However her family was everything to her! Her children, Tiffany, Chris, and Nicholas and her grandchildren meant the world to her. Mary was pre-deceased by her parents, Albert Jr. and Dolores Wurzer; her father in law, Arthur Cassata; her brother Albert Wurzer III; and a brother in law, Arthur Cassata. She is survived by the love of her life, her husband, Joe Cassata of Cohocton; her children, Tiffany Cassata of Dansville, Chris Cassata of FL and Nicholas Cassata of FL; Randi Robinson of FL; Antonio “Stix” Jackson of FL; her grandchildren, Rebecca, Joseph, Victoria and Jace; her mother in law, Marjorie Cassata of Rochester; her siblings, Virginia (Jack) Huehnerbein of Hilton, Patricia (Dave) Brown of Canada, Tim (Peggy) Wurzer of Honeoye, Sharon (Harold) Orr of Gates and Julie Brown (Danny Schranck) or Rochester; her brothers in law, Anthony Cassata and Frank Cassata; along with many nieces and nephews. Mary’s family and friends may call Friday December 8, 2023 from 4-7pm at St. George-Forsythe Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. Her funeral service will be at 7pm Friday at the funeral home immediately following calling hours. Mary’s family and friends are invited to attend her burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery on Saturday morning, December 9, 2023 at 10am.
