Obituary of Gerald H. Carney

Springwater – Gerald H. Carney, “Jerry” 90 years of age, passed away early Saturday morning, December 9, 2023 at the home of his daughter Kelly. Jerry was born November 8, 1933 in Springwater the son of Harold and Irene (Gessner) Carney. He grew up in Springwater and remained a lifelong resident. Jerry and Barbara Brock were married March 17, 1956 in Wayland and celebrated over 67 years together prior to Barb passing away 3 months ago. Jerry served his country in the United States Army from February 17, 1955 until his honorable discharge January 31, 1963. Jerry’s employment included a few different areas throughout his life. For over 27years he worked for the City of Rochester Water Works; he also worked as heavy equipment operator on highways; and he owned and operated a mobile home park in Springwater for many years. Jerry enjoyed membership in many local organizations that included life membership in the following - Springwater American Legion Post #905, Springwater Rod n Gun Club – Hemlock Rod n Gun Club – the NRA – and the Springwater Mountaineers. He was an avid outdoorsman that loved trapping, hunting, fishing and shooting trap. Jerry loved his family and many lifelong friends and will be missed by them all. Jerry was pre-deceased by his parents, Harold and Irene Carney; his wife, Barbara Carney; his daughter Darcy A. Carney (and lifelong partner, Boup Reynolds); his siblings, Sandy McCabe, Bob Carney, Betty Furfur, Vera Gardner, Imo Gene Robinson and Dick Carney. He is survived by his daughters, Terry Lee (Carney) Kuznicki of Springwater and Kelly (Gary) Bauer of Wayland; his grandchildren, Brittney (Chris) Rizzieri of Cohocton, Cortney Bauer (Adam) Landis of Wayland and Kalee Sue (Nick) Warner of Springwater; his great grandchildren, Gabriella, Makayla and Alexandra “The Wild One” Rizzieri and Lillian “Lily of the Valley” and Wilson Warner; his siblings, Donald Carney of FL and Kay (Terry) Moore of Albion; along with many many nieces and nephews. Jerry had specific requests for private graveside services and his wishes will be honored as he will be laid to rest at both Mt. Vernon Evergreen Cemetery with his wife Barb and at Pleasant Valley Cemetery with his mother. Contributions in memory of Gerald H.
