Obituary of Gerald A. Fox

Springwater – Gerald “Jerry” A. Fox –” Foxy” – 82 years of age, passed away early Monday morning January 15, 2024 at FF Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua. Jerry was born in Wayland December 31, 1941 the son of Harold and Gertrude (Gessner) Fox. He grew up in Wayland and attended high school there. Jerry resided in Springwater from 1963-1985 when he then moved to Rush for 5 years. In 1990, he moved back to Springwater where he has resided ever since. Jerry worked for Lewis General for 5 years and then began a long career with the City of Rochester Water Supply retiring as the Superintendent of the City Water Supply. Jerry’s hobbies were many! He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, (both vegetables and flowers). Watching NASCAR with his son in law Brent Quackenbush was definitely a favorite pastime for him on Sunday’s with Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Jr. his favorite drivers throughout the years. He loved cooking and especially enjoyed his smoker. Spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren was also very important to him. Jerry and his companion Paulette Henry have been together for 29 years. They enjoyed travelling to Florida together for the winters and spending time with family and friends. Jerry was involved with many different organizations throughout his life that included, Life Member and Past Chief of the Springwater Fire Department; Life Member of the Springwater Rod n Gun Club; Life Member of the Dansville Moose Club and a Life Member of the NRA. Jerry was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Gertrude Fox; and his brother in law, Harold “Tootie” Plain. He is survived by his companion Paulette Henry of Springwater; his daughters, Bonnie (John) Steff of Naples, Shelley (Brent) Quackenbush of Wayland and Becky (Dan) Van Allen of Dansville; his step son, William Henry (Kerrie Weed) of Dansville; his grandchildren, Chelsea (Jason) Huff, Hannah Steff, Brittany (Curtis) Minster, Taylor Quackenbush, Jordyn Quackenbush, Dillin Quackenbush; his step grandchildren, Shelby Hoag, Morgan Henry and Michael Henry; his great grandchildren, Giana, Cecilia, Liam and Clayton; his step great grandchildren, Carter and Cooper; his sister Ginnie Plain of Elgin, TX; and many nieces and nephews; Paulette’s siblings, Sharon Hoffman of Wayland and Chuck (Kim) Swink of Dansville; many other extended family members within Paulette’s family. Jerry’s family and friends may call Thursday January 18th from 4-7pm at St. George-Forsythe Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. His funeral service will be Friday at 11am at the funeral home. Committal prayers and interment will take place immediately following at Covered Bridge Cemetery in Springwater. Contributions in memory of Jerry A.
