Obituary of Arlene Bardeen Berglund
Wayland – Arlene E. Bardeen Berglund, 87 years of age, passed away Tuesday afternoon October 18, 2016 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
Arlene was born August 11, 1929 in Dansville, the daughter of Herbert and Mabel (Gilbert) Wagner. She grew up in the Sparta, Dansville and Middlesex areas until her move to Wayland in 1979 where she has resided since. Arlene graduated from Middlesex High School and also earned a 2 year degree. Her employment career spanned a couple different areas. She worked for Westinghouse, Forbes Products and also was a successful real estate agent for both Nothnagle and Henty Realty in Dansville.
On June 1st, 1979, Arlene and Robert Berglund were married and together celebrated over 25 years of marriage prior to Robert passing away in October of 2004. Arlene enjoyed travelling around the area to different yard sales and meeting her friends at McDonalds. She always traveled with her dogs, Chipper who passed away and currently Peanut and PJ. Arlene enjoyed crocheting, reading novels, completing crosswords and solving Sudoku’s. She also took pleasure in spending time with her grandchildren.
Arlene was pre-deceased by her parents, Herbert and Mabel Wagner; her brother Richard Wagner; and a step-son Alan Berglund. She is survived by her daughter Loretta Farley of Greece, NY and her son Charles Bardeen (Brenda Lotito) of Canandaigua; her step-children, Janice (Norman) Yohon of Wayland, Edward Berglund (Chris Hayes) of Springwater, Robert Berglund of Florida, Cheryl (Terry) Phelps of Indiana, David Berglund of Plattsburg and Sharon Jackson of Alfred; her grandchildren, Ashley, Joshua, Jared, Sabrina and Jonah; several great-grandchildren; great-grandson Seth; several step great-grandchildren; her siblings, Alta Holmes of Wayland, Raymond (Gail) Wagner of Conesus and Ralph (Virginia) Wagner of Conesus; along with several nieces and nephews.
Arlene’s family and friends may call Sunday from 1 – 4pm at the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland, NY. Her funeral service will be Monday at 11am at the funeral home. Committal prayers and interment will take place immediately following at Howard Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Arlene E. Bardeen Berglund’s memory may be made to the Hornell Humane Society, 7649 Industrial Park Rd., Hornell, NY 14843 or to the American Heart Assoc., 7272 Greenville Ave. Dallas, TX 75231.
