Obituary of Barbara A. Beebe
Wayland – Barbara A. Beebe, 85 years of age, passed away early Friday morning October 21, 2016 at the Vincent House Comfort Care Facility in Wayland.
Barb was born January 25, 1931 in Louisville, KY the daughter of Edwin T. Sr. and Estella M. (Stephenson) Sparks. She grew up in Louisville and has resided in many different areas throughout her life, including, Germany, Florida, Colorado, Rochester and in 1968 she settled in the Wayland area. Barbara and James Beebe were married July 9, 1965 at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Rochester. Together they celebrated over 37 years of marriage prior to Jim passing away in March of 2003. For the majority of her life, Barb was a homemaker and housewife for her husband and three children, Bruce, Craig and Marcia. For many years they did own and operate a concrete lawn ornament business at their home. Throughout the years, Barb enjoyed quilting, cooking and baking and especially having her family visit. Her house was known as the family “bed and breakfast!”
Barb was pre-deceased by her parents, Edwin Sr. and Estella; her husband, James in 2003; a son Bruce McWilliams in 2014; a brother Edwin T. Sparks Jr; and a very special nephew, SPC Theodore Matthew Glende. She is survived by her son Craig McWilliams of Wayland; her daughter Marcia (Dennis) Jacobs of Wilmington, DE; her grandchildren, Kevin (Kelly) McWilliams, Jordan McWilliams, Erin (Scott) Kinney, Ashley McWilliams, Ryan Thompson, Dennis (Jenna) Griffey, and Shawn Griffey; 8 great-grandchildren Colin, Liam, AlyssiaMay, MaggieMay, Willow, SarahLynn, Nathan and Hunter; several brothers and sisters in-law; along with several nieces and nephews.
Barb’s family and friends are invited to call from 11am – 2pm Saturday at the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. Her funeral service will be at 3pm Saturday at St. Peter’s, Episcopal Church in Dansville. Committal prayers and interment will take place immediately following at Clearview Cemetery in N. Cohocton. Memorial contributions in Barbara A. Beebe’s memory may be made to the Vincent House, 310 Second Ave., Wayland, NY 1457
