Obituary of Nellene Jones Green

Perkinsville – Nellene Jones Green, 66 passed away Monday November 7, 2016. Nellene was born August 19, 1950 in Camilla, GA the daughter of Canary and Anna (Calhoun) Jones. She grew up in Camilla and at the age of 15 moved to Bath, NY until her move to the Wayland/Perkinsville area in 1980. She was employed at Kmart in Bath as a restaurant manager for many years before retiring. Nellene had many hobbies throughout the years that included gardening, both vegetable and flowers; crocheting; cooking; and she especially loved fishing. She was a very faithful and active member of the Cohocton Assembly of God. Nellene loved her family very much and was affectionately labeled the “drill sergeant with a heart of gold!” She wanted things done right! Nellene will be dearly missed by all her family, her community and her church family. Nellene was pre-deceased by her parents; her siblings, Peggy Bager, Robert Jones Sr., and Sterling “Man” Jones. She is survived by her children, Sherrie Shaw-Innocent of Wayland, Darlene Whitson-Dade of Henrietta, Linda (William) Whitson-Jones of Bath, Christopher Lynn Whitson Sr. of Perkinsville, and Dianna (Todd) Geter of Corning; 13 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; her sister Luevene (Morris) Ellzy of Brunswick, GA and Albert Jones Sr. of Avoca; many nieces and nephews; and she had an extra special love for her church, community, and her special niece who was like a daughter, Emma Lampley. Nellene’s family and friends may call Saturday from 11am – 1pm at the Cohocton Assembly of God Church, Rte. 415, Cohocton, NY. Her funeral service will be Saturday at 2pm at the church. Committal prayers and interment will immediately follow at Vale of Rest Cemetery, 4782 Cross Rd, Avoca, NY 14809.
