Obituary of RoseMary Hendley

Cohocton / Corning – Rose Mary “Susie” Hendley, 74 years of age, passed away Friday December 23, 2016 at her home in Corning. Susie was born May 26, 1942 in Bath the daughter of Hugh and Delilia (Eades) Hiney. She grew up and resided in the Hammondsport area for many years. In the early 1960’s she moved to Cohocton and lived there for the majority of her life. For the past 15 years or so, Susie lived in Corning. Her employment career spanned a couple different areas. She worked at the Country Store in N. Cohocton for many years; followed by over 30 years at Judy’s restaurant in Bath; and finally at the Corning Legion as a bartender. Susie’s hobbies were many as she loved to play cards, especially euchre which she was very good at. She loved shopping and enjoyed cooking. Of humorous note to her family was the extensive collection of cookbooks she had and the valuables that were often found in those books. She adored her grandchildren and loved spending time with them. Susie was also a former member of the Cohocton Lioness Club and throughout the years she has been a member of the Cohocton and Corning Legion Auxiliary. Susie was pre-deceased by her parents, Hugh and Delilia Hiney; and her former spouse, James “Louie” Hendley. She is survived by her devoted and loving companion, Maurice “Frank” Courtney of Corning; her children, Connie Woodard (Joe Novak)) of Corning, Stephen Hendley of Florida, Mark (Billie) Hendley of Cohocton, and Kristen (Brad) Abramowski of Cohocton; Frank’s children, Clayson Courtney, Diane Smith and Debbie (Myron) Rumsey; her grand-children, Evan, Erica, Samantha, Skyler, Griffin, Marley, Sasha, Ryan, Alyssa and Alexis; Susie’s family and friends may call Monday from 4-7pm at the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. Her funeral service will be Tuesday at 11am at the funeral home. Committal prayers and interment will take place immediately following at Mapleview Cemetery in Cohocton.
