Obituary of Kevin T. Oas

Wayland – Kevin T. Oas, 53 years of age, passed away Tuesday February 21, 2017 at Strong Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family. Kevin was diagnosed with cancer at a very young age and fought a courageous life-long battle with that and other recent illnesses. Kevin was born April 11, 1963 in Wayland the son of Thomas and Linda (Wright) Oas. He attended Wayland Central School and has remained a resident of Wayland his entire life. His hobbies were many as he enjoyed hunting (especially deer), fishing, shooting trap, bowling in the local league for many years, playing Little League baseball and Vince Lombardi Football as a child and watching NASCAR. Kevin also loved to watch his nieces and nephew play sports throughout their high school careers. Kevin was pre-deceased by his grandparents, Robert and Anna Wright and Sidney and Kathryn Oas; his uncles, Frederick Russell, Charles Neetz and James Oas. He is survived by his parents, Thomas (Linda) Oas of Wayland; his brother Michael Oas (David LaBarge) of Fairport and his sister Michele Gregorius (Sean Williams) of Wayland; his niece Chelsea Gregorius of Rochester, nephew,Tyler Gregorius of Wayland and niece, Madison Gregorius of Wayland; his uncles and aunts, John Wright (Maryli Marcos) of Atlanta, GA, Carol Russell of Honey Brook, PA, Phyllis Neetz of Dansville, Donald (Alma) Oas of Naples and Gayle Oas of Wayland; along with several cousins. Kevin’s family and friends may call Sunday February 26, 2017 from 12 – 2pm at the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. Kevin’s funeral service will be immediately following at 2pm at the funeral home. Committal prayers and interment will take place Monday at St. Joseph’s Cemetery at the convenience of his family. Memorial contributions in memory of Kevin T. Oas may be made to the Livingston/Wyoming County ARC, 5 Main St., Mt. Morris, NY 14510.
