Obituary of Ardean Warner

Wayland – Ardean E. Warner, 87 years of age, passed away early Saturday morning, September 16, 2017 at his home.  Ardean was born July 15, 1930 in Wayland the son of Maynard and Mildred (Keeler) Warner.  Ardean has remained a resident of Wayland and specifically Walter Kurtz Road his entire life.

Ardean and Virginia “Birdie Girl” Quanz were married May 7, 1955 at St. Joseph’s Church in Wayland and have celebrated over 62 years of marriage.  Ardean’s employment career spanned a couple different areas throughout his life.  He was the Wayland Town Supervisor for many years as well as a Steuben County Supervisor.  Ardean was also a manager at Empire Livestock in Bath for many years.  He drove truck that delivered milk, cattle and gas, sometimes to the same farms several times a day.  Ardean had his own farm his entire life and raised beef cattle until two years ago!

Ardean was very active in different organizations as well.  He was a life member of the Perkinsville Fire Department; a member and past president of the NYS Beef Cattle Association; the NYS Farm Bureau and he sold insurance for German Mutual Insurance Company (a company associated with the farm bureau).

His hobbies included gardening and raising his cattle.  However, as many of his family and friends know, Ardean’s sense of humor was second to no one!  He was always picking on you and there were no boundaries!  He would end the picking many times with “if I didn’t like you I wouldn’t be picking!”  Ardean’s sense of humor and smile will be missed by many in his family and the local community.

Ardean was pre-deceased by his parents, Maynard and Mildred; his brother Milford “Bud” Warner; and a granddaughter, Billie-Jo Warner.  He is survived by his wife of over 62 years, Virginia “Birdie Girl” Warner of Wayland; his daughter, Ann (Charles) Lill of Honeoye Falls; his son John Warner (Carol Huff) of Marion; his grandchildren, Luke, Jake, Jesse, Mackenzie, Nick (Kalee) and Kimberly “Dewey” Warner (Charlie Pankratz) of Wayland; great-granchildren, Lillian and Karlee Jo; his sisters, Marion Walker of Wayland and Elsie Wallace of Atlanta; along with several nieces and nephews.

Ardean’s family and friends may call Wednesday from 4-7pm at the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland, NY 14572.  Ardean’s funeral service will be Thursday at 11am at St. Joseph’s Church in Wayland.  Committal prayers and interment will take place immediately following at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Wayland.   Contributions in memory of Ardean E. Warner may be made to the Perkinsville Fire Dept., PO Box 152, Perkinsville, NY 14529.
