Obituary of Barbara M. Huber
Perkinsville – Barbara M. Huber, 76 years of age, passed away early Wednesday morning March 7, 2018, at the Vincent House Comfort Care Facility in Wayland.
Barb was born June 20, 1941 in Cohocton the daughter of William and Letoie (Joseph) Wheaton. Barb’s father passed away when she was very young and she was raised by her mother and her step father, Tom Shetler. She grew up in Cohocton, resided in Naples for a short time as well as Wayland. Barb and Norbert F. Huber were married June 18, 1960 and together Barb and Norb resided in Perkinsville since 1960. Norb pre-deceased Barb in 2014.
Barb worked at H and R Block for 13 years; Wayland Pipe for 10 years; and the Avon Post Office for 13 years retiring from there. Her hobbies were many as she enjoyed gardening, walking her dogs, penny socials, yard sales and especially attending the Steam Pageant in Canandaigua. Barb was one of the first women members of the Perkinsville Fire Dept., a member of the Perkinsville Rod-n-Gun Club and a member of the Wayland Legion Auxiliary. She really enjoyed the fire department and working at all the different events that were held there.
Barb was pre-deceased by her parents; her husband, Norbert F. Huber in 2014; two sons, Timothy in 1961 and Joseph in 2017. She is survived by her sons Norbert (Marcia) Huber of Perkinsville and Peter Huber of Springwater; her grandchildren, Dawn Huber, Joshua Huber, Nicole Huber, Emily Huber and Robert Horton; her siblings, Allen (Jean) Wheaton of Canandaigua, Dennis (Beverly) Wheaton of Canandaigua, Sharon Bugbee of Groveland and William (Kathryn) Shetler of Dansville; her beloved dog that is 21 years old, Rusty; a very special friend, Jane Congdon of Perkinsville; along with many nieces and nephews.
Barb’s family and friends are invited to attend her funeral service, Monday March 12, 2018 at 10am at the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. Committal prayers and interment will take place at a later date at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Perkinsville. Contributions in memory of Barbara M. Huber may be made to the Perkinsville Fire Department, PO Box 152, Perkinsville, NY 14529 or to the Vincent House, 310 Second Ave., Wayland, NY 14572.
