Carlton Hoppough

Obituary of Carlton R. Hoppough

Canadice / Springwater – Carlton R. Hoppough, 79 years of age, passed away peacefully at home, early Tuesday morning, May 29, 2018.

Carlton was born December 9, 1938 in Canadice the son of Burdette and Ruth (Glover) Hoppough.  He resided in the Canadice area his entire life.  Carlton and Ann Malone were married August 30, 1958 at the Springwater United Methodist Church and together have celebrated over 59 years of marriage.  Carlton’s employment career has spanned a couple different areas.  He retired from the Insulaters Union Local #26 after 26 years.  He then drove bus for the Honeoye School District for 12 years and retired from there.  Farming was in his blood.  He loved working his farm along with others throughout the years.  Carlton also was an active member of Evergreen (Covered Bridge) Cemetery for over 41 years, and served as President for the last 35 years.

Carlton took great pleasure in farming, hunting and fishing throughout the years. He had a great sense of humor even while in the hospital during his illness.  His family was very important to him as they were the glue that kept him together.  As well as his family, Carlton was very thankful for his Lifetime caregivers, hospital staff as he “never had a bad nurse” and especially Dr. Brian Smith and all the people that have prayed for him.  Carlton did say however, that his home nurses (wife and daughter) were the best!!

Carlton was pre-deceased by his parents; his siblings, Lynn, Marie, Vernon and Neil.  He is survived by his wife of over 59 years, Ann; his son Robert (Amy) of Colorado Springs, CO, his daughter, Christine (Troy) of Pavillion, WY and his son Matthew (Katie) of Springwater; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; many in-laws from the Malone family; along with many nieces and nephews.

Carlton’s family and friends may call Thursday from 4-7pm at the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland.  His funeral service will be at 2pm Friday at the Springwater Church of the Nazarene.  Interment and committal prayers will take place immediately following at Evergreen (Covered Bridge) Cemetery in Springwater.

Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Ann and Carl Myers Cancer Center, Noyes Memorial Hospital, 111 Clara Barton St., Dansville, NY 14437.
