Obituary of Betty A. Hosenfeld
Wayland – Springwater – Betty A. Hosenfeld, 79 years of age, passed away early Sunday afternoon, December 23, 2018.
Betty was born February 12, 1939 in Avon the daughter of Michael and Virginia (McCormick) Amato. She resided the first several years of her life in the Avon area prior to moving to Wayland as a young lady. Betty and Walter Galton were married and their time together was shortened due to a car accident in which Walter passed away in 1962. Betty and Emil Hosenfeld were married December 31, 1973 and after a year of marriage, they moved to Springwater where they remained until there move to Wayland a year ago.
Betty was employed as an inspector at Champion Products for 39 ½ years! After her retirement, she enjoyed helping those in need as a home health aide. Her hobbies were many. She enjoyed gardening; sewing and many different crafts; reading; going to Salvation Army and yard sales; she was a collector of many things as evidenced by her eclectic collection! It was not junk she collected though, it was “nice shiny stuff!” She also enjoyed watching her grandchildren throughout the years.
Betty was pre-deceased by her parents, Michael and Virginia Amato; her first husband, Walter Galton; and a sister, Beatrice Kay Wolfanger. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Emil Hosenfeld of Wayland; her son William (Bonnie) Galton, of Wayland; her daughter, Tiffany (Matthew) Marialke of Rochester; her grandchildren, Billie Jo (Greg) Mullen, Barbra (Matthew) Johnson, Beriah (Ashleigh) Galton, and Lillian, Jacob and Hannah Marialke; her great grandchildren, Zach, Brett, Madison, Makayla, Savannah, Lakota, Grayson, Jordan and Logan; her great-great granddaughter, Ireland; her brother, Jack (Kathy) Amato of FL; her sisters, Frances Gielen of FL, and Waneeta (Terry) Davis of Perkinsville; her sister-in-law, Flora Hosenfeld of Rochester; several nieces and nephews; and her “special surrogate daughter,” Barbara Kraft of Dansville.
Betty’s family and friends may call Saturday from 1-2pm at the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. Her funeral service will be at 2pm at the funeral home.
