Obituary of Lois Ann Vogt
Wayland / Dansville – Lois A. Vogt, 88 years of age, passed away early Wednesday morning, January 23, 2019 at St. Anne’s Care Center in Webster where she resided since 2017. Lois was born August 27, 1930 the daughter of Frank C. and Anna K. (Shults) Vogt. She grew up in Wayland and remained there for the majority of her life. In 2005, Lois moved to Dansville. She moved to Cherry Ridge in 2009 and resided there until 2017.
Lois was a graduate of St. Joseph’s School and Wayland Central School, Class of 1947. Her employment career was spent at Wayland Central School. On June 30, 1986 she retired after 39 years of service to the district, retiring as business manager and treasurer.
Lois’s community spirit and dedication was exemplary as evidenced by her volunteer service. She was a member of Wayland Hospital Board; Director of Wayland Community Chest and chairperson of special gifts, (1989-1990); member of Advisory Committee of Rochester Hospital Service Corp. (1982-1986); active in St. Joseph’s Church as, secretary of parish funds (1960’s early 1970’s); treasurer of Bishop’s Thanksgiving Appeal, (1982-1990); parish council member and president in 1987; member of festival committee, cemetery committee and finance committee; member of Nocturnal Adoration Society and treasurer of St. Vincent DePaul Society. Lois was also the treasurer of the Wayland Free Library, (1988-1992); a board member of the Wayland Historical Society and a member of Meals on Wheels for Noyes Memorial Hospital.
She was known around Wayland for having a green thumb. This was especially evident upon seeing her porch boxes in full bloom. She loved her dogs, Bunny and Gigi.
Lois was pre-deceased by her parents, Frank and Anna Vogt; her sister Delores; her brother and sister-in-law Justin and Marianna Vogt; and her brother the Reverend Otto Vogt. She is survived by her nieces and nephews, James (Ann) Vogt of Clermont, Fl, Julie (Joe) Morrissey of Pittsford, Joe (Sherry) Vogt of Sahuarita, AZ, Joanne (Michael) Kelly of Tully, NY, Mary Jeanne (Keith) Lundy of Spencerport, and Annette (Mike) Battaglia of Fairport; along with several grandnieces and grandnephews.
Lois’s family and friends are invited to call Friday February 1, 2019 from 4-7pm at the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. A family prayer service will be at 10:15 am Saturday February 2, 2019 at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Lois at 11am Saturday at St. Joseph’s Church. Committal prayers and interment will take place immediately following at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
