Obituary of Donald John Conrad

Wayland – Donald John Conrad, 64 years of age, passed away early Tuesday morning April 30, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family after a brief battle with cancer. Don was born June 24, 1954 in Wayland, the son of Theodore and Elizabeth (Morsch) Conrad, where he lived his entire life.

 

Don and Lou Anne Wolfanger were married December 22, 1979 at St. Joseph’s Church. He was predeceased by an infant son, Zachary John and his father-in-law Louis Wolfanger. Don is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Lou Anne Conrad of Wayland; his children, Dr. D. Jordan Conrad (Ashley Smith) of Buffalo, Katie (Steve) Kuhaneck of Buffalo and Grace Conrad of Wayland; his grandchildren, Pepper Jane and Durin Coal Conrad-Smith and Tyler Alexander Kuhaneck; his parents, Theodore and Elizabeth Conrad of Perkinsville; his brother William (Tammy) Conrad of Perkinsville; his mother-in-law Rose Ann Wolfanger of Wayland; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Lyn (Jim) Biniszkiewicz of Buffalo, Kurt (Jamie) Wolfanger of Buffalo, Kathy (Mike) Finch of Wayland and Jennifer (Shawn) Harvey of Wayland; along with aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; and special “fur babies” Rosebud and Sadie.

 

Don's greatest accomplishment was his family. He enjoyed vacations to the Thousand Islands, Myrtle Beach and Caribbean Cruises. Don was an avid fan of all sports and music was an integral part of his life. He listened to the 60’s daily, and was a devoted fan of Lucky Number. Don was employed for over 28 years at the Groveland Correctional Facility, retiring 3 years ago. He was a communicant of the Holy Family Catholic Community, and a member of Knights of Columbus and Sons of the American Legion.

 

Don’s family and friends are invited to call Friday May 3, 2019 from 1-3 and 6-8 at the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. A family prayer service will be on Saturday May 4, 2019 at 9:15 at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Don on Saturday May 4, 2019 at 10am at Sacred Heart Church in Perkinsville. Committal prayers and interment will take place immediately following at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Wayland. Contributions in memory of Donald J.
