Obituary of Eunice N. Recktenwald

Wayland – Eunice N. Recktenwald, 92 years of age, passed away early Saturday morning, July 20, 2019 at her home in Wayland.

 

Eunice was born July 15, 1927 in Island Falls, ME the daughter of John W. and Marada (Russell) Carr.  She grew up in Maine and permanently moved to the Wayland area in 1951.  Eunice and Eugene Recktenwald were married May 20, 1966 in PA and have celebrated over 53 years together.  Eunice was employed at Bausch and Lomb and retired from there after 25 years of service and has enjoyed 30 years of retirement.  Her hobbies were many as Eunice enjoyed knitting; crocheting; playing cards (especially euchre!); hiking; cross country skiing; hunting deer; going on vacations; and playing tennis with her husband!

 

Eunice was pre-deceased by her parents John and Marada Carr; a son, Dean Caron; sisters, Clara, Jan, Leona and Madeline; brothers, John and Maurice.  She is survived by her children, David (Carolyn) Caron of Wayland, Glenn (Chris) Caron of FL, Geno Recktenwald (Donnette) of SC, Wanda Schrader of Wayland, Bonnie Nardone of Rochester, Janet (Gene) Snyder of Farmington and Tammy Baker (Robbie) of Wayland; 20 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews. 

 

Eunices’ family and friends may call Tuesday from 4-7pm at the St. George-Forsythe Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Eunice Wednesday at 11am at St. Joseph’s Church, 206 Fremont St., Wayland.  Interment will take place at the convenience of her family.  Contributions in memory of Eunice N. Recktenwald may be made to Camp Good Days and Special Times, Inc., 1332 Pittsford-Mendon Road, Mendon, New York 14506 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
