Obituary of Sharon L. Slattery

Wayland – Sharon L. Slattery, 75 years of age, passed away Monday morning July 22, 2019 at her home.  Sharon was born October 26, 1943 in Jersey City, NJ the daughter of William and Natalie (Ellsworth) Lynch.  Sharon grew up in Maywood, NJ and has resided in different areas throughout her life including Leonardo, NJ, Bordentown, NJ, California for five years and in 1979 she moved to Wayland and has resided there ever since.

 

Sharon graduated high school from the School of the Holy Child and also from the Catherine McAuley Practical Nursing School in Batavia.  Sharon and Daniel P. Slattery were married May 24, 1980 and together have celebrated over 39 years of marriage.  Sharon was a Poor Clare Nun for several years and then she was employed as an LPN for Livingston-Wyoming ARC and New York State; retiring after 52 years of service.  Upon her retirement she ministered her nursing service to individuals in home care and the Vincent House Comfort Care Facility in Wayland.  Sharon enjoyed many different crafts including knitting, crocheting and quilting.  Her family enjoys her crafts to this day!

 

Sharon was pre-deceased by her parents, William and Natalie Lynch; an infant sister, Laura; and her brother Tony Lynch.  She is survived by her husband Daniel P. Slattery of Wayland; her daughter, Carolyn (Dustin) Ross of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, her sons, Daniel M. (Kelly) Slattery of Denver, CO, Patrick (Julia) Slattery of Watertown, MA and Timothy Slattery of Wayland; her grandchildren, Elijah, Ronan, Malachy and Kian; her sister, Peggy (Jim) Devaney of Cape Cod, MA; her sister-in-law, Fran Lynch of FL; along with nieces and nephews.

 

Sharon’s family and friends may call Friday from 4-7pm at the St. George-Forsythe Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland.  A family prayer service will be offered at 10:30 Saturday at the funeral home.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Sharon at 11am Saturday at St. Joseph’s Church, 206 Fremont St., Wayland.
