Obituary of Theresa M. Godlewski

Cohocton – Rochester – Theresa “Tess” M. Godlewski, 85 years of age, passed away Monday November 25, 2019 at St. John’s home in Rochester where she has resided for the last 3 years.

Tess was born January 5, 1934 in Wayland the daughter of Peter and Theresa (Fuchs) Gessner.  She grew up in Wayland and eventually moved to Rochester for many years.  When she was 51, Tess moved to Cohocton and resided there until moving back to Rochester 5 years ago.  She was employed at ITEK Manufacturing in Rochester for over 25 years.  Her hobbies were many as she was a member of the Cohocton Historical Society and a volunteer at the Cohocton Elementary School.  Tess enjoyed gardening, especially flowers; and she loved spending time with her grandchildren. 

Tess was pre-deceased by her parents, Peter and Theresa Gessner; and her siblings, Catherine Schmitz, Victor Gessner, Fred Gessner, Fran Carmody and Peter Gessner.  She is survived by her children, Aimee (Ed) Servati of Farmington, Mark (Elaine) Gregory of Canandaigua, Eric Godlewski of Canandaigua and Gavin (Debbie) Godlewski of Canandaigua; her grandchildren, Samantha, Joshua (Lionel), Sarah (Scott), Katelyn, Alex, Caleb, Beth Ann, Gina and Megan; her great-grandchildren, Ben, Lydia, Natalie, Aubrey and Gabriella; along with several nieces and nephews. 

Tess’s family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated for her Tuesday Dec. 3, 2019 at 11am at St. Joseph’s Church in Wayland.  Committal prayers and interment will take place immediately following at Old St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Wayland.
