Obituary of Constance L. Curry

Perkinsville – Constance L. “Connie” Curry, 68 years of age, passed away early Wednesday afternoon, February 5, 2020 at her home. Connie was born March 9, 1951 in Hornell the daughter of Richard and Anna (Flynn) Averill. She grew up in Almond and moved to Perkinsville in 1960 and has remained there ever since. Connie was a 1969 graduate of Wayland Central School. Connie’s employment career spanned a few different areas that included waitressing at the Sunrise and Old Madrid in Dansville for many years and she worked for H&R Block as a tax preparer for over 35 years. Many will remember Connie’s Funnel Cakes at all the local festivals in the past. Connie and Alexander Curry were married November 16, 2000 at the oldest chapel in Las Vegas, the “Old Chapel of the West!” Connie’s community volunteer spirit was commendable as she was a volunteer and board member at the Vincent House in Wayland for several years and a social member of the Perkinsville Fire Dept. Bowling was a favorite of Connie’s throughout the years as well as enjoying hosting gatherings and parties for family and friends. She loved travelling and especially the NY Yankees, watching as many games as she could!! She loved to feed the Blue jays peanuts every morning. Her grandchildren and family were very important to her; as well as her importance to them. She will be dearly missed by all! Connie was pre-deceased by her parents, Richard and Anna Averill, and her daughter, Cheryl Johnson. She is survived by her husband, Alexander Curry of Perkinsville; her children, Michele Carpenter (Patrick Teeter) of McGraw, Jill Carpenter (David Mallaber) of North Myrtle Beach, SC, Alexander “Punky” (Amber) Curry of York and Wendi (Bryan) Snyder of Wayland; her grandchildren, Devon, Justin, Emily, Brandon, Nick, A.J., Katelyn and Cole; her siblings and in-laws, Linda VanZandt (Dennis Carnes) of Scottsville, Jeanne (Matthew) Roberts of Wayland, Joanne (Bill) Webster of Ontario, Richard (Cindy) Averill of Wayland, Marjorie Chapman of TX, Diane Curry of Liverpool, Sharon Barth of Retsof, Warren Jr. (Susan) Curry of Gainesville, FL and Ray (Laura) Paulsen of Waterloo; along with several nieces and nephews. Connie’s family and friends may call Friday February 7, 2020 from 4-7pm at the St. George-Forsythe Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. Her funeral service will be Saturday at 11am at the funeral home.
