Obituary of Mark W. Goodrich

Wayland – Rochester – Mark W. Goodrich, 57 years of age, passed away early Thursday morning, March 26, 2020 at the home of his parents in Wayland. Mark was born July 29, 1962 in Wayland the son of William “Bill” and Nancy (Mark) Goodrich. He grew up in Wayland and was a 1980 graduate of Wayland Central School. Mark then earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Microbiology from SUNY Plattsburgh. Throughout the years, Mark lived in Syracuse, Rochester and most recently he had been staying in Wayland assisting his parents. Mark was employed at a couple different places throughout the years; however, for nearly 20 years he was the manager of mail courier services at the University of Rochester. During his tenure, he was elected President of the National Association of College and University Mail Services (NACUMS) and was recognized as a leader within his industry. Mark’s social circle started with a regular gathering of Dungeons and Dragons enthusiasts who morphed into lifelong friends. Mark was a history buff, enjoyed reading mythology and science fiction, and had a lifelong interest in stamp collecting. He was very naturally talented at anything that could catch his interest, including original stained glass designs, Eastern European Easter eggs, and painting museum quality miniatures. He especially enjoyed traveling to exotic locales throughout Europe, the Caribbean and Africa. He was very social and was always a welcome face on Wednesday night at dart league. Mark is survived by his parents, Bill and Nancy Goodrich of Wayland; his siblings, Marcy (Jeff) Ryan, of Kathleen, GA, Jill (Dario) Lecusay Jr. of Flemington, NJ, Josh Goodrich of Jersey City, NJ; nieces and nephews, William (Jessica) Babcock, Nicholas (Bianca) Babcock, Megan (Joseph) Thomas, Sean (Bess) Ryan, and Noelle, Dario III, Terese, and William Lecusay; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous grand nieces and nephews. At this time due to the COVID-19 Pandemic there will be no public calling hours or funeral service. Mark’s immediate family will have a private viewing and a celebration of life will take place later in the year. Mark and his family have been assisted by the St. George-Forsythe Funeral Home, Wayland. Mark’s immediate family will have a private viewing and a celebration of life will take place at a time to be announced later in the year.
