Obituary of Gail A. Fahl
Wayland – Gail A. Fahl, 76 years of age, passed away Friday morning October 3, 2014 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
Gail was born December 15, 1937 in Rochester the daughter of Benjamin and Evelyn (Hopper) Johnson. She grew up in Rochester and she also lived in the Scottsville area for a few years. In the mid 1960’s Gail moved to the Wayland area with her husband John Fahl whom she married January 22, 1960 in Churchville. Together Gail and John celebrated over 54 years of marriage. Gail’s employment career spanned a couple of different areas. For several years she was employed by different car dealers in the Rochester area doing clerical work. However for over 20 years she was employed by Wayland Central School as a bus driver. Her hobbies were many as she thoroughly enjoyed motorcycling, going on cruises and wintering in Florida. Gail enjoyed knitting, sewing and she was an avid quilter.
Gail was pre-deceased by her parents, Benjamin and Evelyn Johnson. She is survived by her husband, John Fahl of Wayland; her daughter Ann Schmidt of Wayland and her son Ron Fahl of Wayland; her grandson Gregory Baroody of Wayland; her brother, George (Joyce) Johnson of NC; along with several nieces and nephews.
Gail’s funeral service will be Sunday August 9th at 11:00am at the Village Cemetery in Wayland. Memorial contributions in Gail A. Fahl’s memory may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016. Gail and her family have been assisted by the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland, NY 14572.
