Obituary of Sidney C. Clayson
Wayland – Sidney C. “Sid” Clayson, 71 years of age, passed away early Wednesday morning April 8th, 2015 at Roswell Park Institute in Buffalo.
Sid was born November 4th, 1943 in Wayland the son of Charles and Laura (Sauerbier) Clayson. He grew up in Wayland and was a 1961 graduate of Wayland Central School. Upon graduating from Wayland, Sid
served his country in the United States Marine Corps from August 29th, 1961 until his honorable discharge December 20th, 1965. While in the Marine Corps, Sid was stationed on the U.S.S. Enterprise during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Sid’s employment career spanned a couple different areas that included the Railroad during his leave from service; Stuart Olver Holtz, a metal plating shop in Rochester; Industrial Air Conditioning in Rochester; Valley Heating and Cooling; and for over the past 30 years he has been self employed in the heating and air conditioning business. Sid was in many organizations that included the Wayland American Legion Post 402, New Smyrna Beach VFW Post 4250 and the Wayland, Springwater and NCA Rod-n-Gun Clubs. His hobbies were many as he loved riding Harley Davidson motorcycles, old cars, and years ago, playing softball. He took many trips to Bike Week in both Daytona and Sturgis and quite simply put, Sid loved to have a “good time!”
Sid was pre-deceased by his parents, Charles and Laura Clayson; and his granddaughter, Acacia Wise. He is survived by his children, Tracy Clayson of S. Dansville, Charles Clayson of Florida and Brian (Daniela) Clayson of Harlem, GA; his grandson, Calvin Clayson; and his siblings, Janice (Joseph) King of Dansville, Alyce Joyce Moran of TN, Diane (Kenneth) Christensen of LA, Tom Clayson of FL, Larry Clayson of Wayland, Martin L. (Janice) Clayson of Wayland; along with several nieces and nephews.
Sid’s family and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at 11:00am Sunday at the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. Committal prayers, military honors and internment will take place immediately following at the Village Cemetery in Wayland. Memorial contributions in Sidney C. Clayson’s memory may be made to the Wayland American Legion Post #402, Main St., Wayland, NY 14572 or to the Wayland Rod-n- Gun Club, Deiter Rd., Wayland, NY 14572.
