Obituary of Gary R. Bill
Wayland – Gary R. Bill, 76 years of age, passed away early Thursday morning, April 30, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Gary was born October 6, 1943 in Wayland the son of Robert and Lorna (Wemett) Bill. He grew up in Wayland, was a member of the Wayland Central School Class of 1961, and remained a resident of the Wayland area his entire life. Directly out of high school, he served his country in the United States AirForce from November 17, 1961 until his honorable discharge May 6, 1965. Gary and Edith Stephens were married June 25, 1966 at the North Cohocton United Methodist Church and have celebrated over 53 years of marriage!
Gary’s employment career was mostly spent self-employed as the owner / operator of Gary R. Bill Plumbing and Heating. His expertise, work ethic and ability to help all earned Gary the respect, business and likeability that rivaled none!
Gary was a member of the North Cohocton/Atlanta Rod-n-Gun Club and the Wayland American Legion. His hobbies included a love for playing softball in his younger days and a love for playing golf. The New York Yankees and Cleveland Browns were his favorite professional teams that he enjoyed watching. However, Gary’s passion was his grandchildren. He could always be seen at their sporting events, school events and assisting them in whatever way he could. Getting together at the local coffee shop with his friends has always been a favorite of his as well. To say that his family, friends and community will miss him is an understatement!
