Obituary of Marion N. Schuyler

Cohocton / Dansville – Marion N. Schuyler, 90 years of age, formerly of Cohocton and Sparta passed away early Monday morning April 20, 2015. Marion was born December 21st, 1924 in Terrytown, NY the daughter of H. Earle and Doris (Craig) Nevins. She grew up in the Bath area and also spent several years in the Pultney area. However the majority of her life she resided in Cohocton. As a young child, Marion resided with and was raised by her grandparents, John and Theresa Scotchmer. Marion was very talented at counted cross stitch as evidenced by her many beautiful pieces. She also enjoyed knitting and as the years passed, she enjoyed being a member of the Naples Senior Citizens Group. Marion had a wonderful sense of humor and always kept you on your toes. During her years in Cohocton, Marion was a very active member of the Cohocton United Methodist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir at church. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Marion was pre-deceased in life by her grandparents, John and Theresa Scotchmer. She is survived by her children, Pat (Paul) Phillips of Dansville and John (Deborah) Schuyler of Wayland; her grandchildren, Anna (Jack) Cannioto of Avon, Paul Jr. (Monica) Phillips of Dansville, Robert (Lisa) Phillips of Columbia, SC, Andrew (Shelly)Schuyler of Mahomet, IL and Ryan (Maggie) Schuyler of Medford Lakes, NJ; her great-grandchildren, Brittany, Derrick, Hannah, Zackary, Benjamin, Noah, Katlin and Sophia; her sister-in-law Nellie Hoban of Bath and her brother-in-law Walt Schuyler of Dundee; along with several nieces and nephews. Marion’s family and friends may call Thursday from 4:00 – 7:00pm at the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. Marion’s funeral service will be on Friday at 11:30am at the Sparta United Methodist Church. Reverend Jamie Stevens of the Sparta United Methodist Church will officiate. Internment with committal prayers will take place at 3:00pm at Glenview Cemetery in Pulteney.
