Obituary of Linda L. Hamilton

Cohocton – Linda L. Hamilton, 75 years of age, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday morning, January 12, 2021 at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville. Linda was born July 29, 1945 in Canandaigua, NY the daughter of Clarence and Nellie (Waterstraw) White. She grew up in Honeoye and graduated from Honeoye Central School in 1963. Linda earned her nursing degree from the Highland School of Nursing in Rochester. She then began a lengthy career as a RN at the Conesus Lake Nursing Home. Linda retired April 12, 2000 after 33 years of dedicated, compassionate and caring service. Linda and Jim Hamilton were married September 20, 1975 in Honeoye and together have celebrated over 45 years together. They have resided together in Cohocton since 1976. Her hobbies were many. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and traveling to the Casino. She also loved her Dodgers, Bills and Orangemen basketball! However, Linda’s joy was spending time with her family! Her husband, children and grandchildren meant the world to her. She was a very dedicated wife, mother and grandmother as evidenced by her attending almost all of their sporting events throughout the years. She would get out of work and travel to wherever she had to! She was a fixture in the Cohocton Community and will be dearly missed!! Linda was pre-deceased by her parents, Clarence and Nellie White; and her brother, Christopher White. She is survived by her husband, Jim Hamilton of Cohocton; her son, Bucky Austin and his wife Molly; her daughter, Cheryl Mehlenbacher and her husband Todd, all of Cohocton; her grandchildren, Jennifer (Tommy) Smyder of Cohocton, Tyler (Tamara) Austin of Geneseo, Alex Austin of Springwater and Kyle Mehlenbacher (Jennifer Harrell) of Wayland; her great-granddaughters, Lily and Haley Smyder; her brother Skip White of Honeoye; along with several nieces, nephews and her beloved dog “Jack.” Linda’s family and friends are invited to call Friday January 15, 2021 from 3-6pm at St. George-Forsythe Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. Mandatory social distancing, facial covering, and no physical contact policies will be in effect at the funeral home. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Linda at St. Pius Church in Cohocton. Committal prayers and interment will take place at St. Pius Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Linda L. Hamilton may be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, Wheels For Life Event, Cohocton.
