Obituary of Sarah K. Wheeler

Wayland – Cohocton – Sarah K. Wheeler, 35 years of age, passed away early Saturday March 20, 2021 at her home in Wayland. Sarah was born January 17, 1986 in Wellsville, NY. Sarah grew up in and spent most of her life in Cohocton. She also resided for a short time in Springwater and most recently moved to Wayland. Sarah was a graduate of Wayland – Cohocton Central School in 2004 and then earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics from SUNY Geneseo. Sarah worked for Adams Mortgage Capital Company for a period of time; the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation in Avon; and for the past several years, the NYS Department of Transportation. Sarah and Jeffrey Wheeler were married June 22nd, 2013 at The First Presbyterian Church of Cohocton. Together they have shared over 7 years of marriage and brought two beautiful daughters into the world, Audrey and Adalyn! Her hobbies were many. She loved playing sports in high school; running track and pole vaulting and she loved to play soccer. Sarah was an avid Buffalo Bills fan (not bandwagon!); has become a hockey fan; and Duke Basketball outranks everything! She enjoyed camping, spending time with all her family but most of all she loved being a wife to Jeffrey and a Mom to Audrey and Adalyn! Sarah was pre-deceased by her grandparents, Neena and Herbert Nagell; Kathryn and Vincent Kuhn; and Robert Guest. She is survived by her husband Jeffrey Wheeler of Wayland; her daughters, Audrey and Adalyn; her parents, Nancy and Gene Kuhn of Cohocton and Bruce (Deb) Guest of Baldwinsville; her siblings, Heather (Robert) Tonkery of Dansville, Benjamin (Marlies) Guest of Springwater, Jennifer (Jack) Kelly of Clemmons, NC, Daniel Kuhn of Cohocton; step-siblings, Dennis and James Kuhn, Dan Yousey and Jill Fleming; nieces and nephews, Blake, Marissa, Hadalee, Zachary, Alissa, Madison, Jackson, Ryan, Charlotte, Khloe, Korie and Hunter; her father and mother in law, Pete and Veronica Wheeler of Geneseo; her grandmother, Jane Guest of OH; brother in law, Josh (Amber) Wheeler of Nunda; her aunts and uncles, Diana (Ronald) Irland of Naples, Susan (James) Moretti of Clermont, FL, Eric (Lee) Nagell of Delevan, NY, Vinessa (James) Gilman of Cohocton, Robert (Trina) Guest of OH, Jennifer (James) Swartz of OH, Aimee (Brian) Agett of Franklinville; Todd Guest of OH; and many many cousins. Sarah’s family and friends may call Wednesday from 4-7pm at St. George-Forsythe Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. Facial covering, social distance and no physical contact policies will be in effect. Sarah’s funeral service will be private due to the current Covid-19 restrictions. Interment will take place at Mapleview Cemetery in Cohocton. Accounts are being established for Audrey and Adalyn at Five-Star Bank and contributions in memory of Sarah K. Wheeler may be dropped off or mailed directly to the bank, 1 S. Main St., Wayland, NY 14572; sent directly to Jeff; or dropped off/mailed to the funeral home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland, NY 14572. Contribution forms will be available at the funeral home.
