Obituary of Karen M. Snowman

Cohocton – Karen M. Snowman, 70 years of age, passed away early Friday evening, April 2, 2021 at Rochester General Hospital. Karen was born September 21, 1950 in Olean, NY the daughter of Carl and Betty (Isaman) Flickner. Karen grew up in Dansville and graduated from Dansville Central School in 1968. Throughout her years in school, Karen spent many summers living at the family farm in Perkinsville. Karen and Tom Snowman were married August 3rd, 1968 and together have celebrated over 52 years of marriage. Karen and Tom have resided in Cohocton their entire time together. Karen was a bartender most all of her working career. Many years at the Town Tavern in Dansville and for the many many years at the Bryant Hotel in Wayland. Karen’s hobbies were many. She loved bowling, whether it was running the junior leagues; participating in weekly leagues or competing in state tournaments. Karen also loved to hunt; along with playing softball and gardening. She enjoyed membership in many local organizations that included; the Wayland Legion; Springwater Rod-n- Gun Club, Dansville Moose Club; Dansville VFW, Lakeville Exempt Club, NCA Club, the Hemlock Sportsman Club and the Cohocton Fire Department. Karen was pre-deceased by her parents, Carl and Betty Flickner; and her son-in-law, Matthew Schwartz. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Snowman of Cohocton; her children, Jennifer Schwartz of Cohocton, Thomas (Rebecca) Snowman of Culpeper, VA, David (Cherry) Snowman of the Phillipines and Elizabeth (Andre) Green of Cohocton; her grandchildren, Madelyn (Matt), Emily, Logan, Evan, Rachel, Samantha, Braden, Madison, Carissa, Arianna, DeAndré and Malyiah; great grandchildren, Louie and Andrew; her siblings, Harold (Cheryl) Flickner of Dansville and Shirley (Dennis) Rawleigh of Canaseraga; her sister-in-law, Susan Knapp (Jim Sterns) of Canisteo; her aunt, Donna Recktenwald of Dansville; along with several nieces and nephews. Karen’s family and friends may call Saturday from 1-4pm at the St. George-Forsythe Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. Facial covering, social distance and no contact policies will be in effect. Karen’s funeral service will be private for her family due to the ongoing pandemic. The funeral service will be available via live stream at the link below. Interment will take place at a later date. Contributions in memory of Karen M.
