Obituary of Bernard Belanger

Floral City, FL / Perkinsville - Bernard Belanger of Floral City, FL passed away at Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness on April 11, 2021 at the age of 83. Bernard was born to the late Ovila and Dorothy Belanger on March 27, 1938 in Caribou, ME. He proudly served his country as a Sgt. of the United States Army Reserves. Following his military service, he began a career in Construction and worked as a Supervisor for Construction Union Number 85 retiring after 38 years of service. In 1958 he married his wife Sara (Burke) with whom he shared 63 years of loving marriage. Bernard and Sara made Citrus County their home in 1990 after relocating from Perkinsville, NY. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking and created most of the furniture in their home. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed being involved with the Knights of Columbus at his church Our Lady of Fatima. Bernard was a standout soccer and basketball player, playing on varsity teams all 4 years of high school. He was all county for basketball his junior and senior years. In addition to his loving wife Sara, those left to carry on his love and memories include his sons: Bernard Belanger (Cheryl), Mark Belanger (Angie), Todd Belanger (Tina); daughter, Rebecca Belanger; daughter-in-law: Charlene Belanger; brother: Mike Belanger; sister: Vella Rouse-Kiser. Grandchildren: Brittany (Patrick) Mannix; Brandon (Nikki) Belanger; Jareth Belanger; Cassandra Belanger; Joshua Belanger, Jessica (Zack) Bower; Julia Belanger; Chelsie Pifer (Gilbert King); Sara (Joseph) Spurlock; Mark Delaney (Tiffany Carter); Lauren Monti; Sam Monti; Dalton Monti; Tiffany (Diego) Wichman; Casey (Ashley) Wichman; Joseph Harvill (Kaelyn McCoy); Matthew Harvill; Stephanie Harvill (TK Moore). Great-grandchildren: Jameson, Bailey, Lucas, Olivia, Leo, Zev, Syra, Kaia, Tyler, Rylie, Levi, Maverick, Amos, Lois, Mason, Aria and Laccie. Bernard was preceded in death by his son, Scott Christopher Belanger (2001) and sister Elizabeth Martin. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday. April 17, 2021 at the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home and will be conducted by Father Tim Cummings of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Friends are invited to join the family in visitation beginning at 1:00 PM until the hour of service. Bernard will be laid to rest at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Perkinsville, NY at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
