Obituary of Robert H. Mitchell

Wayland – Robert H. Mitchell, 91 years of age, passed away early Tuesday morning April 27, 2021 at the Livingston County Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Mt. Morris. Bob was born October 10, 1929 in Wayland the son of Glen and Loretta (Pfuntner) Mitchell. He grew up in Wayland and remained a life resident of the Wayland area. Bob honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1953. Bob and Betty Henderson, affectionately known as “Kate” were married August 22, 1955 and celebrated over 45 years of marriage. His employment career spanned many years as a welder at Foster Wheeler Energy Corporation in Dansville. Bob loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a member of the NCA Sports Club, the Foster Wheeler Club and the Wayland American Legion. Bob was pre-deceased by his parents, Glen and Loretta Mitchell; his wife, Betty “Kate” Mitchell; his step-daughter Sandra Allison; his son-in-law Gene “Corky” Zeh; and his brothers, James, Leo and William Mitchell. He is survived by his step-daughter, Margaret “Maggie” Zeh of Denver, CO; his grandchildren, Jay (Connie) Allison of Loon Lake, Mark (Lisa) Allison of Macedon, Jeff Allison of Dansville, Tim (Robin) Allison of SC and Jill (Richard) Richter of Denver, CO; several great-grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; his sister, Rita Johnston of CA; his brothers, Donald Mitchell of Dansville and Lawrence (Sharon) Mitchell of Loon Lake; along with several nieces and nephews. Bob’s family and friends are invited to attend his graveside service on May 19th at 11:00 am, St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Wayland. Contributions in memory of Robert H.
