Obituary of Johnathon Ames Short

Wayland – Tulsa, Ok – Johnathon “Kupkake” Ames Short, 27 years of age, passed away Monday May 24, 2021 where he resided recently. Kupkake was born November 23, 1993 in Dansville the son of Timothy Mattox and Lori Short. He grew up in Wayland and has resided most of his life and moved to OK a few years ago, however he always seemed to find his way back. Kupkake loved to travel and talk to people about whatever they wanted to! He was very intelligent and would get a certificate or license to do whatever he wanted to. Johnathon loved to talk with Michael "his little brother" about the different places, people and things he has seen along his journey in life, and how he wished they were as close as they used to be growing up while at grandma's. He was married to Tonya Lette on February 12, 2012. She pre-deceased him in 2019. John was pre-deceased by his grandfathers, Timothy Mattox and Richard Short; his uncle, Richard C. Short (whom he looked up to and wanted to be like); and a cousin Aurora Shanks. He is survived by his mother, Lori Short (Gordon Clayson) of Penn Yan; his father and step mother, Timothy and Kendra Mattox of CO; his siblings, Michael (Christina) Alexander, Rachel Mead, Rose Mead, Tristan Mattox and Trinity Mattox; his grandmothers, Donna Short of Wayland and Terry Steagel of CO; his nephews and niece, Aiden, Eddy and Madelynn; along with many aunts, uncles and cousins. Family and friends may call Thursday June 24, 2021 from 11am - 1pm at St. George-Forsythe Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. Interment will take place at the Wayland Village Cemetery.
