Obituary of Richard A. Smith

Springwater – Richard A. “Rick” Smith, 61 years of age, passed away early Saturday morning, May 30, 2015 at his home. Rick was born September 8th, 1953 in Corning the son of Lozier Sr. and Darlene Smith. He grew up in Corning and lived many years there. He also resided in a few different areas throughout his life including Rochester, Prattsburgh, over 25 years in Avoca and in Springwater for the last several years. Rick and Barbara Callahan were married March 22nd, 1980 and together have celebrated, over 35 years together. Rick was pre-deceased by his father, Lozier Smith Sr.; a brother, Lozier Smith Jr.; and a brother-in-law, Gary Davis. He is survived by his wife Barbara Smith of Springwater, his mother Darlene Timmons of Zephyr Hills, Fla; his step-mother, Sandra (Allan) Oakley of Corning; sisters and brothers in law, Brenda Stanton (Matt Mentz) of Prattsburgh, Beverly (George) Johnson of Wayland, Pete Callahan (Rachiel Braziel) of Wayland and Donald Reese of Penn Yan; his siblings, Ann Smith of Bath, Sandy Davis of Albany, Lisa Brandow of Penn Yan, Heidi Smith of Corning, Donna (Kevin) Harrington of Corning, William Hall of Corning, Heather (Erik) Pearson of Corning, Bob Brandow and Kevin Brandow both of Bath; very special friend and caregiver Kathy Carney; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, “Goldie!” Rick’s family and friends may call Tuesday from 1:00 – 3:00 pm at the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. His funeral service will immediately follow at 3:00pm at the funeral home. Committal prayers and internment will take place immediately following at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Wayland.
