Obituary of Kerry D. Pebbles

UPDATED INFORMATION Wayland – Kerry D. Pebbles, 64 years of age, passed away Sunday afternoon at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester surrounded by family. Kerry was born July 3rd, 1957 in Dansville the son of Donald and Dolores “Dee” (Levey) Pebbles. Kerry grew up and has remained life resident of the Wayland area. Kerry loved to socialize with all especially at the campground and as of late play computer games. Kerry and Cathi Feeley were married August 13, 1987 and together have celebrated over 34 years of marriage. However Kerry’s legacy was his willingness to give to and help others. He dedicated his entire life to police work and law enforcement. Kerry’s compassion and kindness was reflected in his work and his willingness to treat everyone with respect and dignity and yet still get the job done. Kerry worked for many different police organizations throughout the local area including; Dansville PD, Bath PD, Steuben County Sheriff’s Department, and was a past chief of both Wayland and Cohocton Police Departments. He had trained with the FBI and DEA and was an investigator for United Refinery in Erie, PA for many years; worked at WCCS assisting with student discipline and he was also a Wayland Village Justice. He was a past member of the Wayland Lions Club, the Wayland Town Board and current member of the Cohocton Legion, the Association of Police Chiefs, Sons of American Legion and the Dansville Moose Club. Kerry wore many hats! He was a mentor to many and always would give, give and give more with expectations of nothing in return. Next to the word “humble” in the dictionary, you will find Kerry D. Pebbles. Kerry was pre-deceased by his parents Don and Dee Pebbles; his brother in law, Brad Feeley and his niece, Valerie Knopp. He is survived by his wife, Cathi Pebbles of Wayland; his sons, Kody (Elora) Pebbles of Bismarck, ND and Kyle (Megan) Pebbles of Madrid, NY; his grandchildren, Aidan and Luke; his brother, Kevin (Janet) Pebbles of Wayland; his nephews, Dylan Pebbles of Greece and Sean Pebbles (Casey Fick) of Canandaigua; his aunts, Vera Levey of Mt. Morris and Rita Levey of Mt. Morris; his sisters in law and their spouses, Tami (Rick) Barrett and Lori (Karl) Wells. A private funeral service per Kerry’s wishes took place along with burial at the Wayland Village Cemetery. A celebration of life will be this Saturday Nov. 6th at the Cohocton Legion from 1-4pm.
