Obituary of Anne M. (McAllister) De Witt

Macedon – Wayland – Anne (McAllister) De Witt, 68 of Macedon passed away Friday November 5, 2021 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. Born in Wayland, New York on December 30, 1952, Anne was the fifth child of Robert and Lois (Granger) McAllister. She was a 1970 graduate of Wayland Central School where she sang with several vocal groups including solo performances and supported the basketball team as a cheerleader. Anne and Dean De Witt were married October 13, 2000 and have celebrated over 21 years of marriage! Among her siblings, Anne was considered one of the family’s best cooks. In Wayland, she was well known as the creator and manager of Anne Finn’s Restaurant at the Bryant Hotel with popular breakfasts, lunches and Friday dinners. She expanded that successful business to include catering for local events and celebrations. In a second career, Anne worked as a legal assistant. She retired from Nixon Peabody in Rochester after nearly ten years with the company, and then worked for McAllister and McAllister Law Office in Wayland. Anne had many passions! She loved to dance, plant flowers and especially had a love for Christmas. She made it magical and went to great lengths to make it very special for those she loved! Taking care of and spending time with her grandchildren was also very important to Anne. Anne loved her family and will be dearly missed. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Robert and Lois McAllister; siblings, Brendan and Angela; and her niece, Molly Fitzgerald. She is survived by her dear husband, Dean De Witt of Macedon; her children, Jennifer (Frank) Kearney of Greenville, SC, Brian (Jamie) Finn of Wayland and Sara (Philip) Fouser of Brockport; her six grandchildren, Justin and Ashlyn Kearney, Curren, Cabhen and Brekian Finn and Casey Fouser; her nine siblings, Linnie (Richard) Regan, Mary (Fred) Nijhout, Robert (Lynnette) McAllister, Margaret (James) McLoughlin, Patrick (Kim( McAllister), Jo Ellen (Tom) Stammen, Elise (Edward) Clark, Catherine Fitzgerald and Therese (Dan) Trotter; 21 nieces and nephews and 17 great nieces and nephews. Anne’s family and friends may call Friday November 12, 2021 from 4-7pm at St. George-Forsythe Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Anne on Saturday November 13, 2021 at 11am at St. Joseph’s Church in Wayland. Committal prayers and interment will take place immediately following at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Wayland.
