Obituary of C. Jack Wraight

Wayland – Clifford “Jack: Wraight, 71 years of age, passed away early Saturday morning, June 27, 2015 at the Palliative Care Unit at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. Jack was born March 27th, 1944 in Bath, NY the son of Lawrence and Doris (Moon) Wraight. He grew up in Prattsburgh and moved to Wayland in 1972. He has resided in Wayland ever since. Education was very important to Jack as evidenced by his personal achievements in education and his employment in education. He was a 1962 graduate of Prattsburgh Central School, a 1964 graduate of Morrisville College attaining an Associates of Applied Science degree in Engineering; a 1967 graduate of Oswego with a Bachelor’s degree in Education; and finally a 1987 graduate of St. Bonaventure College with a Master of Science degree in Education and Administration. Jack and Patricia Robinson were married August 19th, 1967 and together were married for over 23 years prior to Pat passing away in January of 1991. Jack and Pat had two sons, Aaron and Justin. In 2003, Jack and Rosalie Forsythe began a companionship that each have cherished and are thankful for. Jack’s employment career has been entirely in education. He taught industrial arts, technology and drivers education at several schools that included Naples for four years, Caledonia for 16 years and Arkport for 19 years. He also taught for a couple of years at Alfred State College. During his tenure in Caledonia and Arkport he was also an administrator that included athletic director, vice principal and building principal. Jack was an avid sports fan and coach. He coached basketball and tennis at both Caledonia and Arkport and won sectional championships in both sports while at Caledonia. Jack retired from the education arena in 2007, however for those that knew Jack he never left education. Volunteering and assisting organizations was also very important to Jack. He was a member of the Tri-County Medical Board, Zoning Board of Appeals and Community Chest. Jack was also a Wayland Town Justice and a Village Trustee that was very proud of certain achievements during his tenure. Woodworking was a passion of Jack’s. He enjoyed making shelves, cabinets and other furniture for both himself and his family. His shop is rivaled by none! Another favorite activity of Jack’s was to watch the children play all their different sports which included travel teams and Wayland-Cohocton School teams. And of course watching sports on television and debating with all who the better team was! Jack was pre-deceased by his parents, Lawrence and Doris Wraight; his wife of over 23 years, Patricia Wraight; his sister Patricia Davis and her husband Dave; his sister, Ann Smith; and his brother, Keith Wraight. He is survived by his companion Rosalie Forsythe of Wayland; his sons, Aaron (Marie) Wraight of LA and Justin (Crystal) Wraight of NC; his grand-daughters, Emma, Sarah, Cora and Sylvie; his sister, Wendy (Jeff) Gifford of Penn Yan; his sister-in-law, Deborah Wraight of Canandaigua; other sisters and brothers in law, Darlene (William) Moesch of Prattsburgh and Rose (Doug) Bailey of Hammondsport; Rosalie’s children, Tamara (Timothy) Schubmehl, Todd (Jill) Forsythe and Teri (TJ) Cotter all of Wayland; their children that Jack considered grandchildren, Kyleigh, Dane, Mia, Aydan, Brogan and Nora; along with several nieces and nephews. Jack’s family and friends may call Monday from 6:00 -8:00pm and Tuesday from 4:00-7:00pm at the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. His funeral service will be Wednesday at 11:00 am at the funeral home with the Reverend Dan Jones officiating. Committal prayers and internment will take place immediately following at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Wayland. Memorial contributions in C. Jack Wraight’s memory may be made to the C.
