Obituary of Eleanor B. Dudley
Wayland – Eleanor B. Dudley, 86 years of age, passed away at her home, Saturday November 13, 2021.
Eleanor was born March 27, 1935 in Avoca the daughter of Merlyn and Louise (Schults) Bunting. She grew up in Avoca and was a 1953 graduate of Avoca Central School. She then attended Bryant and Stratton College in Rochester and earned her degree in accounting. Eleanor and G. Harold Dudley were married January 14, 1956 at St. Joseph’s Church in Wayland. Together they celebrated over 58 years of marriage prior to Harold passing away in 2014. Eleanor worked at the Avoca Bank for a number of years and then she worked at the Wayland Free Library for over 30 years.
Eleanor’s hobbies were many! She was a master crafter; sewing, knitting, crocheting and quilting (especially quilting Linus quilts.) Most of her crafts were donated to churches and any organization that would accept them. Years ago she also made Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls. Eleanor also donated her time. She volunteered for the Wayland Fire Auxiliary, taught Sunday school, was a member of NSDAR and was a member of the Wayland United Methodist Church. She was an excellent accountant and enjoyed helping her neighbors with their taxes throughout the years and her payment was tickets to local church dinners. Eleanor also loved to read! The Wayland Free Library and the Dansville Public Library were her favorite places to go! Two groups she loved to attend were a craft group with her friends and the Bone Builders Group at the Wayland Free Library. Eleanor was also a two time survivor of breast cancer.
