Obituary of Thomas Lefler

Wayland – Thomas Lefler, 80 years of age, passed away late Christmas Eve, December 24, 2021 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. Tom was born January 2, 1941 in Chemung County the oldest of three siblings. He was admitted to Craig State School in 1947. In 1984 he moved to Caledonia ICF and spent almost 20 years there before finally settling at the LaRue IRA in Wayland in 2003. Tom has blessed the lives of many people but none so much as his best friend, John. They enjoyed each other’s company immensely and spent hours together watching cooking shows, The Golden Girls and Andy Griffith. In addition to TV, Tom loved music and enjoyed going to concerts. He loved babies and children and thoroughly enjoyed house festivities when staff would bring their families to visit. Tom was well known for his smile, thumbing his nose at people, expressing himself with off color phrases and hitting on the ladies! He will be dearly missed by many. Tom’s friends and caregivers may call at a day and time to be announced soon. Interment will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Perry Center.
