Obituary of Thomas W. Russell

North Cohocton – Thomas W. Russell passed away on his 95th birthday Tuesday January 4, 2022 at his home. Tom was born January 4, 1927 in Bath, the son of Peter G. and Julia L. (Thomas) Russell. He grew up in Hammondsport, moved to Wayland and has resided in North Cohocton since 1950. Tom and Mary Dries were married July 22, 1950 at St. Joseph’s Church in Wayland and have celebrated over 71 loving years together. Tom’s employment career spanned a few different areas. Early in life he worked for Ward’s Feed Mill in Bath, Park’s Dairy in Wayland and Mitchell’s Dairy Farm in Dansville and for over 38 years he worked as a welder at Foster Wheeler Energy Corp. in Dansville. Tom’s hobbies were many. He love to dance, especially square dancing; enjoyed gardening, lawn work and was a master wood worker, often donating pieces to local fundraisers. Christmas was a very special time for Tom as he loved celebrating with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the Republican Club and the 25 year club at Foster Wheeler. Tom was pre-deceased by his parents; his daughter, Margaret Wagner; sons in law, John Bartholomay and James Vogt; his brother and his wife, Herbert and Kathryn Russell; and his brother in law, John Dries. He is survived by his loving wife Mary Russell of N. Cohocton; his children, Teresa Russell of Dansville, Becky Moore of Naples, Annette (Philipp) Riesenberger of Atlanta, Tim (Robin) Russell of OH and Mark (Donna) Russell of Naples; 11 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren; his nephews, Paul (Karen) Russell of FL, Earl (Ruby) Russell of Bath and Keith (Denise) Russell of MS; and her caregivers, Liz, MaryLou, Carol and Dr. Ahmed. Tom’s family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated on Monday January 17, 2022 at 11am at St. Joseph’s Church, 206 Fremont St., Wayland.
