Obituary of Anna M. Starcher

Wayland – Anna M. Starcher, 84 years of age, passed away late Tuesday evening, February 22, 2022 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. Anna was born July 3, 1937 in Springwater the daughter of Arthur and Marie (Lange) Marks. She grew up and resided in Springwater until she was 14 when her family moved to Wayland and she has lived in the Wayland area ever since. Anna graduated from Wayland Central School in the class of 1955. She worked as a custodian at the school retiring in 1995. Anna also had a home daycare and took care of many local children as well as raising her own. Anna and Robert Starcher were married June 4, 1994 and have celebrated over 27 years of marriage. Anna’s hobbies were many. She enjoyed reading books (probably every one at the library!); sewing quilts; knitting; crocheting; cooking; travelling; gardening; birdwatching and putting puzzles together. She was also very active in two local groups - the Golden Agers Club (she was the treasurer for many years) and the Bone Builders Group at the Wayland Library. Anna was pre-deceased by her parents, Arthur and Marie Marks; a son, James Jr. and a daughter, Tina; her sister, Dorothy Schmitz; and a great-granddaughter, Madison Allen. She is survived by her husband, Robert Starcher of Wayland; her children, Cindy (Robert) Hammond of Bath, John Ruscitto of Springwater, Diane (Scott) Lodge of Summerville, SC, James III (Linda) Ruscitto of Wayland and Amy Ruscitto of Victor; her step children, Carol Starcher of Bath and Robert (Sue) Starcher of York, SC; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great- grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Anna’s family and friends may call Saturday February 26, 2022 from 1-3pm at St. George-Forsythe Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. Anna’s funeral service will be Saturday at the conclusion of calling hours, 3pm at the funeral home. Family and friends may join us to celebrate Anna's life immediately following the service at Nugget Hill, Second Ave Ext, Wayland. Interment and committal prayers will take place at the convenience of Anna’s family at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Wayland. Contributions in memory of Anna M.
